Catholic Church Health Services is a network of health service delivery in Papua New Guinea affiliated to the Health Commission under the Catholic Bishops Conference of PNG & Solomon Islands.

The network is coordinated through a Secretariat that was incorporated through the PNG Investment Promotion Authority as Catholic Church Health Services Incorporated, or commonly known throughout the network and sector as CCHS National Office.

In 2014, the Catholic Bishops Conference resolved to amalgamate health and HIV, resulting to the establishment of the CCHS Secretariat in 2016.

A CCHS National Board chaired by a Bishop Deputy, provides ongoing governance and policy oversight to the network.

Since the inception of the CCHS National Office, we have achieved the following:

  • Appointment of a Health Secretary of the National Office
  • Established a National Level Health Sector Partnership Agreement with the National Department of Health.
  • The first meeting of the CCHS Health Board since its inception.
  • Formulation and submission of the first separate CCHS Budget to GoPNG.
  • Development and approval of CCHS Organisational Structure from the national to the facility level.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation system established to support monitoring of health data for NDoH.
  • Partnership with Global Fund and the Australian Government to implement TB and HIV projects.
  • First annual conference conducted in March, 2019.
  • National level audits prior to provincial financial reviews of all Health Grants.
  • Centralisation of the Payroll System at the National Office.
